Stretches/Exercises To Relieve Sciatica and Lower Back Pain

Sciatica” is commonly used to refer to pain along the sciatic nerve, which runs from the lower back through the buttocks and down the leg. Sciatic nerve pain or any lower back pain can be so excruciating and debilitating that you don’t even want to get off the couch. The sciatic nerve runs through the piriformis, This is a tiny but powerful muscle deep in your glutes that helps laterally rotate your hips.

If this gets gets too tight, it can impinge the sciatic nerve that runs through or under it, causing tremendous pain, tingling and numbness in your lower extremities. Common causes of sciatica can include a ruptured disk, a narrowing of the spine canal or injury. You are advised to seek medical advice before starting these exercises for sciatica, and to stop immediately if you feel any pain.
